It was a Trick or Trunkin’ kind of day on Friday, Oct. 30. Or at least it was supposed to be.
The original plan was ingenious and simple, and began with a suggestion by MOPS mom Marisela Preciado. Why not let the kids dress up in their costumes more than once? And why not do something MOPS related to make that happen?
Which, of course, spurred Coordinators Tarrah Patch and Amanda Davies into action. They dreamed up a MOPS Halloween event in which kids would parade their outfits for Eagle Crest residents, followed by a “Trick or Trunk” in the Grace Baptist parking lot, where moms would share candy out of the trunks of their cars.
It was a great idea, really. But when nasty weather and a flu bug messed up those plans, what developed instead was just as good, maybe even better.
“Illness up at Eagle Crest meant we had to cancel the parade,” said Davies. And when blustery, sleety weather made it clear that the parking lot candy handout wasn’t going to happen, Patch had to start improvising. (more…)
